Welcome to Iris Studios!
We’re in the heart of the Third Ward district in Milwaukee, WI. The area is full of restaurants, shops and lofts. We’re across the street from the Milwaukee Public Market, and in the Merchant Mills Building which is also home to The Wicked Hop and Collectivo. Built in 1865, it is one of the oldest buildings in Milwaukee! It’s got charm and tall ceilings, perfect for creatives of all kinds.
Let your creative juices flow with all that our studio has to offer!
When we took over this space, we updated the old carpeting with brand new Dominian Walnut to compliment the historic Cream City bricks.
We then chose to paint the walls a very modern sleek grey, which happens to be perfect for photographers as its 18% gray. We are constantly updating and improving our studio! In just the past few months, we’ve added studio lighting, high-speed wi-fi, Godox 300 strobes with Stripboxes and Apple monitors and have more projects on the calendar.
The rolls of wall mounted seamless paper allow you to create beyond the building’s original features.
There is a backdrop stand available for you to bring your own muslin or vinyl backdrops.
The walls are painted in an matte finish and will not create glare. The dark gray works well for headshots and portraits. The second shooting bay is perfect for shooting at long focal points. It also allows for additional background stands at 71″ wide.
As you can see, we added privacy curtains in the long shooting bay, should your client want to change mid session. The panels close shut and just slide out of the way when not in use.
Our studio space was designed to meet with clients and really make a great first impression! The studio is neutrally branded, meaning you won’t see samples of other photographers’ works. This allows you to customize the space while you use it.
We have two seating areas to meet with clients. A more professional sitting area at a counter and a couch with coffee table and chairs.
We added a “reveal wall” to allow you to showcase your work and samples during consultation, or photographs from your session during the sales meetings. The shelves have a small groove to hold matted prints, metals and even frames in place. It will be ready for you to add your own work to!
Here is an example with 7×10″ prints in 11×14″ mats, and a 24×36″ metal. We also display albums, framed art, acrylic blocks and more on the counter top.
There is now a large TV with a Roku stick and HDMI cables for you to preview your photos.
Our studio is available through a monthly membership, or on an a la carte basis. Book a private viewing and tour today!
